Insulation materials and heat protection
Thermal separation is crucial for the longevity of the building structure. For thermal insulation, either approved mineral wool insulation materials or substitute insulation materials made of calcium silicate or vermiculite may be used. What is essential is that all materials are officially approved and resistant to continuous heat exposure. For inserts without a convection casing, these must also be abrasion-resistant.
Sizing: insulation thickness and air gap
The required insulation thickness varies depending on the material selected. While specific table values apply to mineral wool, the individual manufacturer’s instructions apply to substitute insulation materials. To safely avoid heat build-up, a precisely defined air gap must be maintained between the rear wall or side walls of the appliance body and the insulation.
Air flow and convection
For proper operation, the free air cross-section in the cladding is essential. The minimum required values are technologically precisely matched to the respective insert. Depending on national legislation and the energy concept, our heating inserts can also be implemented as closed thermal storage systems without ventilation grilles. This enables particularly minimalist designs without visible openings.
